There are many diets in the market today and each of them helps us
transform ourselves in different ways health wise. Amongst them is the
Mediterranean diet, which has been endorsed by many doctors over the years.
Apparently, research has shown that this diet is very good in reducing risk of
heart diseases as its associated with a lower level
of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (LDL)
cholesterol — the "bad" cholesterol that's more likely to build up
deposits in your arteries. It also reduces risk of cancer, Parkinsons and
Alzheimers. So, it’s a good idea observed to be followed by most of the
kitchens registered with Homegrubz.com selling home cooked food in Bangalore.
But, how do they incorporate the Mediterranean diet in their
menu and what does the diet mean after all? Eating Mediterranean cuisine? Not
really.
They incorporate the essentials of the diet in other cuisines as well.
It’s all about following a sequence in alternating between plant based and
animal based food, the former being in greater quantity. This diet goes very
well with our Indian diet as in our country too we eat more plant based
compared to animal. So, this is easily followed by most of the kitchens who
sell home cooked food online.
To help us follow the diet, it has been graphically depicted
in a pyramid, where in the bottom we have more vegetables, fruit, legumes and
grains – which can be consumed on a daily basis. In the next tier we have fish
and seafood that can be consumed in lesser quantity than the items in the previous
tier, followed by chicken and egg and finally meat and sweets.
